Play is one of the most powerful ways to learn at any age. It activates the senses, sparks pleasure, and fosters social interaction – all of which help people grasp, grapple with, and remember ideas. That’s why from ancient times to today, games have been used to teach serious skills ranging from math to strategy.

Science is Worth Sharing

Science reveals and improves our world.

For instance, think of the progress made in understanding early brain development over the last three decades. By showing that learning begins long before school — and that in fact, the earliest months and years of life are the foundation for all the learning and development that follows — approaches to early learning have changed for the better, in the US and around the world.

Deeper understanding of child and adolescent development can help public officials, key decision-makers, frontline service providers, and other community leaders make significant contributions to support better outcomes for children and families. Yet too often, scientific insights aren’t accessible to decision makers and the public. They’re stuck in academic journals, communicated in highly technical language, or disconnected from real world situations.

More to Play bridges this gap by designing playful, interactive experiences and games to bring scientific insights alive. Our theory of change is simple: when we change how people see development, we change how they act for children and families. To spark that change, we help change-makers teach through play.
